Anyone for Boules?

A Greenhouse with a dual purpose.

The brief came in to create a space in an established garden for a large greenhouse, to be situated on a sloping area of the garden. The greenhouse would sit in a space that might feature raised beds for growing vegetables and herbs or as a small cuttings garden. The greenhouse would be able to function as a space for displaying and growing plants and occasional leisure purposes. The client also enjoys Boules and so the brief asked that we include a surface and area suitable for this.

We got to designing a scheme that sits low in the hill to minimise the impact of terracing and help to integrate it into the landscape.

We sourced an attractive painted aluminum greenhouse of reasonable proportions and reasonable price that sits on a dwarf wall. The construction works was carried out without hitch by our good partners at Your Garden Creations. The terracing was created using European oak sleeper walls and surfaces covered featuring a combination of clay pavers, and fine compacted Breedon gravel for the Boules surface.

Raised beds were created in oak and feature panels behind in cedar strip.

The whole scheme incorporates planting in beds surrounded with metal edging.

Planting includes Ligustrum Japonica half and quarter standards, Pervoska, Lavender Hidcote, Hornbeam Standards. Plus wide boarders enclosing and blending the scheme into the surrounding garden featuring meadow grass and perennials.

The complete scheme has ambient lighting supplied and fitted by our colleagues SCEC Electrical.

We are just waiting for the Boules Party invite!
